The club lost an ardent supporter and avid golfer last year when Dick Johnson
passed away. His ready smile and hearty laugh was heard every week as he
represented the club as our "Ambassador" on the course. As you can tell by
the following story, he is still looking out for the club.
When I first came to the club last year, I asked Dick Johnson over a cigar why
he named the new snack shack he generously donated the Eagle's Nest when there
was a hawk nearby and no eagles.
His response, "The eagle is also a symbol of many things I hold dear and....You
never know. We might just have an eagle here someday."
Premonition? Chance? Or maybe Dick has returned to keep an eye on
the course and all the friends he had here at the Stevens Point Country Club.
The Eagle's Nest has lived up to its namesake and is a lasting testament to
Dick's love for this club.
God bless you Dick, and thank you.
